Condition: Very good++ red cloth hardcover edition with color illustrations on the front and spine with the title in gold on the spine and front cover. The corners are sharp and bump free with just some mild shelf wear to the points. The edges are free from any fraying or tears. There are no marks or writing inside. All pages are present and attached. I could not find any tears or marks on any of the pages. The binding is solid and square and the front and back inside hinges are free from any paper cracking. The pages have yellowed a bit due to age. There are 112 b&w illustrations by A.B. Frost throughout. Book size 5.50 inches by 8 inches tall. There are 4 pages of publisher ads for other books in the back. A very nice copy.
Subject: Civil war era plantation stories as told by slaves and freed slaves in correct dialect of the day. Very politically incorrect in the 21st century.
